Why build a video wall of plasma display
panels (PDP)?
Plasma monitors require little space. At any wall-video
diagonal size, thickness hardly is 10 cm. This is an important
advantage
not only at placing, but also during transport. Plasma wall
gives high contrast and high luminosity and provides excellent
image
even under strong illumination. The plasma wall visual angle
is 160 degrees in both directions, so it is perfectly visible
from anywhere.
What makes the difference between Infinite and
Neodigm plasma walls?
Neodigm walls are fix size, consisting of
4 pcs 42” panels. Their control does not require any outer
device; they can be
operated like conventional TV sets by means of a remote control.
Of course, outer control can also be applied if necessary.
Infinite walls have a modular structure, operation requires
separate control.
Neither equipment contains a TV tuner.
Can I use plasma wall to watch TV?
Yes, of course, but you need
an external TV tuner. In order to obtain best quality picture,
we recommend the use of a device
able to give PAL/NTSC or DVB signal on a good quality output
(e.g. DVD writer, PCI card built in a PC, etc). Nowadays, one
can buy signal shapers equipped with external TV tuners, which
contain picture appraising circuits, so one can watch TV programs
on plasma wall in an even better quality.
What is the resolution
of a plasma wall?
The resolution of a panel is 852x480 pixels
(WVGA), while the resolution of the whole wall may be maximum
1600x1200 pixels.
Using individual control, the resolution of giant walls can
approach the total resolution of the panels. Neodigm plasma
wall 84” size
produces a resolution of maximum 1600x1200 pixel.
What picture
size can be built of Infinite plasma panels?
Optional size and
shape wall can be built from Infinite panels. The actual control-software
makes possible the simultaneous control
of 6x6, that is 36 panels, but using individual control the
picture size can be increased however far by increasing the
number of
panels. A panel’s diagonal is 42” (106 cm), which means that
the 6x6 wall’s diagonal is more than 6 meters. Naturally, not
only conventional built-up solutions may be implemented, even
a 1x6 or 2x4 solution may be carried out, it is only your creativity
that sets the limits.
What does „seamless Multi-PDP” mean?
Conventional plasma monitors
have got quite a thick rim, which makes them unsuitable for
operating as video wall. Infinite and
Neodigm panels are produced with a special manufacturing technology,
which helps reducing the rim to 1-2 mm size, thus the thickness
of the joining strip does not exceed 5 mm.
How many sources
can be displayed simultaneously on the Infinite plasma wall?
The
Infinite panels are equipped with different video inputs, through
which they can receive and display 5 different signals
at the same time. The 5 inputs are not of same rank. Only three
of them are able to receive high resolution (HD) signals, the
other two can only handle conventional PAL and NTSC signals.
The displayed picture can be modified optionally.
What is necessary
for the operation of Infinite plasma wall?
Basically three things
are required: plasma wall itself, a control PC and some signal
source. To be mentioned that the plasma wall
consumption can be quite high (3-400 W per panel), therefore
appropriate power supply is needed. Should you wish to display
one source on more than four panels, a signal amplifying distributor
is needed. (See next question).
How to connect the signal sources
to the plasma wall?
Each panel has input and output, so monitors
can be row-connected and only the first monitor has to be connected
to the signal
source.. The signal gets from the first panel to the second
one and so on. In case of Infinite panels, it is possible to
build
a wall larger than 2x2, but meanwhile it is to be noted that
a distributor amplifier is required per every four panels,
so that each device can receive an adequate powerful signal.
Practically,
this means that in case of a 3x3 wall, a 3-output distributor
amplifier will be required in order not to charge more than
four panels on an output.
Can I connect a HDMI-output device
e.g. DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player or HDTV indoor equipment to
the plasma wall?
In case of plasma wall built of Infinite panels,
yes, because the device is equipped with a DVI-D (HDCP) input
too, which is
„permeable” to HDMI standard by means of a converter. Neodigm
plasma wall has no such an input, so in case of the above mentioned
players we suggest using the component input.
What is the control
PC?
The control PC is a conventional computer operated by the
control software. By all means it needs a RS-232C port (through
this
the PC communicates with the plasma wall) and a Windows XP
operational system for the control software. In case of buying
the plasma
wall, we provide the software free of charge.
